Keto lifestyle

MANDEVILLE, Manchester- Manchester-based healthy lifestyle advocate, Michelle Jones, has officially ventured into consultation.

She launched the business during an event dubbed “The First Keto Healthy Lifestyle Brunch”, held at the Tropics View Hotel in Manchester on Sunday, March 31.

Jones explained that it was during her hectic career as a marketing and sales executive that she took the decision to make a transition in her diet and others seeing the difference wanted advice on how they too can make the change.

The Ketogenic diet, abbreviated as Keto, is low-carb and high fat and is said to have benefits such as lowering the risk of developing diabetes, assist in lowering high blood pressure, increase energy level, tone and build muscles and allows for an overall state of wellness.

Avocado (pear), seafood, nuts and seeds, olive oil, meats and vegetables are among the food items recommended to eat.

“Six weeks into Keto, I lost 9.5 pounds to be exact. I want to also tell you that when you start Keto, do not use the scale, your first scale should be your clothes,” Jones told the audience.

Admitting that she has been hypertensive for 15 years and since on the diet, she is now able to take less of her prescription medication.

“The more you practice it (Keto), the more you become encouraged to stick to it because you are seeing results (and the more you are also inclined to practice a healthier way of living generally),” added Jones, while emphasising that persons treating illnesses should not make decisions without checking with their physician.

The function was held under the theme “Turning Setbacks into Triumphs” and the importance of practicing positive affirmations and having the right mindset was also addressed.

Entrepreneur and keynote speaker, Antoinette Palmer-Davis, said that self-love is important, those taking the weight loss journey must be mentally ready and that the outcomes will not be a one size fit all.

Sponsors of the event included The Jamaica Observer, New Look Cosmetics, Vicbern Aluminium & Roofing, Peters Place, Fruits Gallery, Ettenio, Murray’s Fish and Jerk, and Fiyaside Jerk.
