Blu Lyon
Super Blue’s Bastard Son is title of the debut album by American-Trinidadian dancehall rapper Blu Lyon. The 12-track project is slated for release on his Titan Music imprint in June.
“The album is mostly hip hop and dancehall, two of the most influential genres in the world. Approximately 90 per cent of the production is done by Blu Lyon, with additional work done by Kev Watts, Rico Tayla and JJ Wizzle,” he said.
Super Blue’s Bastard Son includes Link Up, Goodbye and Solid.
“ Goodbye’s video has been out since February and should premiere on cable TV this week,” he said.
Blu, who first visited Jamaica in 2006, said he is planning a stopover this month to promote the set. He is also slated to perform on Scream on April 21 in St Mary.
Blu Lyon (given name Austin Lyons Jr) was born in the United States, and later on his grandmother took him to Trinidad and Tobago to live with her. He is the son of soca legend Super Blue, who is also father of soca star Fay-Ann Lyons.
The dancehall rapper is quick to point out he is an outside child.
“I am not trying to exploit my father’s name. It’s just facts. What is the definition of a bastard? Who do you think I am? That’s who I am, Super Blue’s bastard son. It is a straight declaration of self,” he said.
He said he hasn’t spoken to his father since 2006.
Super Blue’s Bastard Son will be his first album since his 2017 mixtape, The Big Bad Mighty.
His other songs include Christmas Eve, The Halfway Tree Story, and Super Sexy.
