We made these products because… customers wanted us to make a Tortuga version of the Jamaican Christmas fruitcake with the quality they have come to expect from Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes Limited.

Our major challenge (if any) is… not much. There has been an increased demand for the product and as such, finding the shelf space to introduce the product has posed a challenge.

The products became available to the public in… early January 2018.

And are available at… all supermarkets, gift shops, airports, cruise ship ports, gas stations, hotel gift shops and online in Jamaica.

The response to the products has been… tremendous, especially at Christmas time.

Our first breakthrough came when… we listed it at our Falmouth Pier shop for a pilot. It was warmly received by cruise ship passengers who were exposed to the Jamaican fruitcake, but who wanted an offering that was not so heavy and soggy. Tortuga took this opportunity to offer a version that has the finest quality ingredients topped off with a 5YR oak barrel rum. This cake is also vacuum-sealed to lock in freshness for one year. Hence, the name Great Cake.

Jamaicans should support our products because… we are truly Jamaican, owned by a Jamaican company. Products are freshly baked each day. We have 35 years’ experience in the field of baking. Our product is vacuum-sealed to lock in freshness for 12 months. Our cakes are hand-glazed with a 5YR oak barrel Tortuga rum. Our factory is SQL 2-certified. The second-highest quality certification in the world. Our cakes have won the accolade of the Porthole Cruise Magazine “Best Caribbean souvenir” for 16 consecutive years. Cakes sail on over 100 cruise ships with the major cruise lines sailing the Caribbean.
