Pedestrian, motorist killed in separate crashes in St James, St Elizabeth
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A motorist and a pedestrian died six hours apart in separate crashes over the Easter weekend.
They have been identified as 56-year-old Clive Bernard, a labourer of Roehampton, St James and 24-year-old Derani Williams of Top Hill, St Elizabeth.
It is said that about 7:30 pm Friday, Bernard walking along the Lawson main road in Anchovy, St James, when he was struck by a motorcycle that was allegedly out of control.
Bernard died while the motorcyclist, who was injured in the incident, was treated at hospital. The police said the motor cyclist has been warned for prosecution.
Then about 1:30 am Saturday, Williams was travelling along the Lawson main road when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with another motor vehicle.
Williams was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
