Duanvale draw closer to Trelawny quarter-finals
SAMUEL PROSPECT, Trelawny — Duanvale FC all but secured their passage to the quarter-finals of the Trelawny Football Association Major League on Saturday after coming from a goal down to beat Prospect Links 2-1 in their Group Two return-round game at Samuel Prospect.
The win mirrored the first-round scores between the two teams as Duanvale FC improved to 17 points, opening up a six-point gap on second-placed Rio Bueno FC.
Lionel Clarke gave Prospect Links the lead after 20 minutes, but Kenroy Brown equalised for Duanvale FC in the 40th minute with Orlando Gray scoring the winner in the 72nd minute.
Coopers Pen took over the lead in Group Three after a 3-0 win over Granville FC, who finished with nine players after Raymeon Green was sent off in the 73rd minute and Roniel Cole in the 87th minute.
Shaunavan McKenzie scored a first-half brace to take his league-leading tally to seven goals to lead Coopers Pen to their fourth win from seven games.
McKenzie scored in the 30th and 45th minutes, while Delbert Thomas added a third in the 52nd.
Holland United are a point behind Coopers Pen after their big 5-1 win over 10-man Kinloss FC, whose goal-scorer Davian Holmes was sent off in the 73rd minute.
Jahmar Newman scored a hat-trick to lead Holland United as they avenged their first-round 3-2 loss, netting in the 25th, 49th and 69th minutes after Mikhail Codner had given them the lead in the third minute of play.
Holmes had scored in the 28th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the time.
Duncans United took over second place in Group One after beating Friendship FC 2-1, their second win over them this season.
Dwayne Duncan, Danelle Panton, Dwayne Robinson and Malike Stephens scored for Duncans United while Garel Gooden and Tajae Moore got on the score sheet for Friendship.
