Tailgate JA was a driving success
As Jamaica’s carnival season nears its peak, carnival band Xodus is planning to create history.
“The season has been challenging, but lots of fun. Xodus is going to put on a spectacle on the road with the biggest band in the history of Jamaica, with over 4,000 revellers,” Scott Dunn, managing director of Dream Entertainment, told the Jamaica Observer.
On Thursday, Dream Entertainment, along with Yuma from Trinidad and Tobago, had their third staging of Tailgate JA at National Stadium Car Park in St Andrew.
Dunn was pleased with the turnout at the event.
“This year has been our biggest crowd and best vibes to date. Both locals and foreigners love the concept,” he said.
Dunn further explained the concept of the ‘tailgate’ party.
“A tailgate is a party that everyone brings their vehicles into the venue and all have their mini gatherings with food and drinks,” he said.
Patrons were equally enthused by the party’s energy.
“It’s been amazing; soca is life!,” said Island Eyewear Supervisor Navardo Campbell.
Monique Shepherd said she travelled all the way from Boston in the United States to share in the carnival experience with Xodus, because she believes it has the best vibes.
The vibes were further heightened with selectors Charlotte, Major Penny, Watty, Patrick “The Hypeman” Anthony and Jazzy T, as the crowd danced to popular hit songs across all genres.
