One week at Sandals is never enough, says couple
MARK and Meredith Schreiber from San Diego, California, returned to Sandals Resorts 14 times since their first visit in 2013. So far they have island-hopped at Sandals/Beaches Resorts in Grenada, Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, Turks and Caicos, and Jamaica, their favourite destination.
“One week is too short. This is why we now spend two weeks on each visit,” they said in an interview.
In 2015 the Schreibers vacationed at Sandals Resorts in three islands – Grenada, Antigua and Jamaica. “We call it Island Hop the Sandals-style,” smiled Meredith, reminiscing on their wonderful experience.
Sandals Reunion Week — April 22 to 26 — is always a must for the Schreiber’s. The annual reunion week saw 130 couples in attendance at the Sandals Ochi Beach Resort alone. “We love to come home at this time as the red carpet is rolled out specifically for all returning guests and we are treated like royalty for an entire week with special activities and gifts for each day. We also reunite with many friends, and of course the staff,” Mark said while on a special returning guests off-resort excursion to Laughing Waters.
The couple are avid golfers and were first attracted to Sandals because of its inclusive golf package. “Milton [Bell], head of security and Robert [Haye], my caddy, are like family at Sandals Golf & Country Club. Each time we return we have Robert as our caddy, he knows the course very well.”
“Being a good corporate company is great, and because we give back we like to support other corporations that give back like Sandals Resorts. The Sandals Foundation is doing an amazing job in the Caribbean, and we always donate to the foundation,” Meredith added.
Mark concurred, “I recalled once I played with Romaine, Evans, he was from the Junior Golf Programme sponsored by Sandals Foundation. He told me that his introduction to golf has been through the Sandals Foundation, and that he has a mentor and gets assistance with financial support for his academics.”
“We always look forward to returning home to Sandals Ochi Beach Resort where the staff is like our family. My butler, Samuel [McLean], is the best. I can tell the staff are hand-picked and hired for their personality. The staff remembers us and make Sandals what it is; it’s amazing,” commented Meredith. “Regardless which Sandals we visit the team members are consistent and performs well,” she added.
“The Schreibers are genuine, and a nice couple who loves Jamaica, its people and our resorts. They know the team members by names. We always look forward to welcoming them home for another wonderful experience,” said Sandals Ochi Beach Resort general manager, Kevin Clarke.
“Planning in advance is always the best and it works well for us. When we depart we will start counting down the dates to our upcoming Sandals holiday. We are scheduled for 2019 – Sandals South Coast in Jamaica, 2020 in Sandals Ochi & Sandals Grenada, 2021 Sandals Ochi Beach Resort and Sandals Royal Caribbean,” Meredith said with a smile while Mark nodded approvingly.
