Woola aims to change game
MUSIC producer Kerry “Woola” Grant is banking on his debut Tycoon Lifestyle rhythm to establish him among the island’s new vanguard.
“The early feedback on radio, and in the streets with the mixtapes and vloggers has been great,” he said.
Tycoon Lifestyle rhythm features artistes including Chronic Law, Jahvillani, Dre Island, J Yungg, Press Play and Fadda Bookie. The project is slated for release this month on the Young Tycoon Family imprint.
Grant, a former student of Calabar and Green Island high schools, was born in Hanover.
“I have been a lover of music since day one also by associating with other players in the industry which gave me a more in depth view in the producing area and propelling my career of being a music producer. I was intrigued by the behind the scenes aspects of the music and the intricacies of developing rhythms,” the producer said.
“Music has always been like a safe place for me and has been a part of my life from as far as I can remember so it seemed the natural path for me,” he continued.
The producer said he wants to revolutionise dancehall with projects that feature polished production, airy radio-friendly beats while using an impressive roster of millennial dancehall artistes.
“Young Tycoon Family is based on the concept, myself being part of this young generation, of being productive and striving to achieve wealth and ensuring everyone associated with the label achieves same through hard work and dedication,” he said.
