Gospel therapy for DJ Nicholas
DJ Nicholas has teamed with Anthony Brown and group therAPy for the song A ll Night, All Day . The single will be on the American gospel act’s fourth album, set for release later this year by Indiana independent label Tyscot Records.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, DJ Nicholas explained how the collaboration came about.
“Someone from Anthony’s team contacted me and said Anthony had a song on his new album that they believe I would be fit for. The song was produced by his in-house producers,” he said.
DJ Nicholas previously collaborated with American gospel act Todd Dulaney on the songs You Are The Reason and You Make Me Wanna. The latter was featured on DJ Nicholas’ 2017 album Audiologist, while You Are the Reason is from Dulaney’s album, Your Great Name.
Three years ago, DJ Nicholas worked with American gospel singer Deitrick Haddon on the song On The Way which also featured Sherwin Gardner. Nicholas and Haddon performed On The Way at the 2016 BET Gospel Celebration.
“Doing collaborations always helps those on the international scene to become more familiar with my style and ministry. The more familiar they are with my ministry, the easier it becomes to do more collaborations and to share on their platforms,” said DJ Nicholas.
Anthony Brown and group therAPy have had three albums on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums Chart. They are Every Day Jesus and A Long Way From Sunday (both of which hit number one) and a self-titled set which peaked at number three.
Brown, 37, began his career in 2012 with group therAPy as his harmony singers. From Maryland, he has entered Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs Chart seven times.
In an email response to the Jamaica Observer, Brown explained why DJ Nicholas was considered for the project.
“When God gave me the song, All Night, All Day, it had a Caribbean party vibe to it and I had seen DJ Nicholas work with some of my other counterparts in gospel. I have seen him get the gospel party started before and thought he would be perfect for this,” he said. “Thankfully, my team knew how to contact him and he was so gracious to come and be a part of the live recording of it.”
