Hilly’s Halo given the nod in Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame Stakes
THE running of the $1.25 million Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame Stakes takes centre stage at Caymanas Park tomorrow on the 10-race Jamaica Racing Commission-sponsored programme.
Only six runners are taking part in the Open Allowance event going six furlongs (1,200m) and even though the field is small, a very competitive sprint race is in the offing.
The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the runners and their chances of being the new ‘Hall of Famer’.
HOVER CRAFT: (9-y-o b. h – He’stherealthing – Royal Pizzaz) – Hard knocking horse who shows up now and then with good performances. However, going six furlongs and breaking from the number one post, Hover Craft is going to be left behind.
HILLY’S HALO: (4-y-o ch. f – USA- Kantharos – Hal Jezabelle) – Put up a strong fight on last when beaten by 1 ¼ lengths by Another Vigorous over five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course. Hilly’s Halo was slow into stride and came with a strong run in deep stretch only to be denied by the better horse on the day. With the extended trip and less to fear tomorrow, Hilly’s Halo is going to be hard to beat this time around.
EXHILARATE: (5-y-o ch. f – Blue Pepsi Lodge – PureJoy) – Was some 12 ¾ lengths in fifth place behind Another Vigorous and Hilly’s Halo in a five-furlong round race on May 25. Prior to that, Exhilarate was a winner travelling down the five furlongs straight on April 13, beating Secret Traveller in 59.2, which showed her capability. Although expected to give way in deep stretch here, Exhilarate is going to keep runners honest especially on the front end.
MY SISTER: (4-y-o rn. f – Taqarub – Lady McBeth) – Capable sort who has been running some very good races of late. While, My Sister’s consistent form should continue, getting by her stable companion Hilly’s Halo is not on the card for her.
UNCLE VINNIE: (5-y-o dkb. h – Bridled Quest – Kathythetraina) – Ran a good race last week going 9 furlongs and 25 yards, finishing third behind I Am Di One and Dontae. But even with that capital effort, Uncle Vinnie is going to be outpace in this one.
PATRIARCH: (4-y-o b. c – Casual Trick – Electrifying) – After a narrow win in the class below, Patriarch stepped to the Open Allowance and finished a fighting third behind Another Vigorous and Hilly’s Halo going five furlongs round. Although Patriarch faces Hilly’s Halo here, he is going to be the main rival of the filly in this trophy event.
