The soca season may have ended in April, but Soca Forever brought back sweet memories.

It was held at the waterfront in downtown Kingston on June 1.

“The idea that there is a soca season, January through April, is long gone, as Soca Forever has pulled impressive numbers not just for a soca event, but also for a first-time summer party,” said DJ Richie Ras, a director of The Council — event organisers.

The premium drink-inclusive party saw no live performances.

“Over the years patrons have asked for a fete with little or no stage performances, mainly soca and an affordable premium drinks option. This is what Soca Forever has delivered. We are focused on delivering a high energy fete. We play 10 to 15 per cent dancehall and 85 per cent soca, playing from calypso to 90s, to early 2000s, to current Soca,” IB Konteh, marketing director of The Council, told the Jamaica Observer.

With all full house, Konteh said the feedback was more than positive. The DJ line-up proved formidable which included Bloodline Franco, Cyclone, Lantern MD, Richie Ras, Matt Camps and Marlon Musique.

“Even after the event ended, partygoers lingered around, craving more. We created a scene at waterfront, the people came out in their numbers and the vibe was nothing short of amazing, and the ambiance was extraordinary. The bar has been set, special thanks to our sponsors and all who made the event a success,” Konteh said.

The next staging of Soca Forever is scheduled for Christmas.
