Brittny is optimistic ahead of Friday’s release of Cuffin Season.

She celebrated the upcoming single at a release party held at Chillin’ Restaurant and Bar at Hope Gardens in St Andrew, last Monday.

“It’s not officially released yet. It will be out Friday, but having it played within my own home is amazing. I really want the support and I really hope everybody loves it,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

Produced by Atlanta-based Zodiac, Cuffin Season will be available on all major digital platforms.

“The song is inspired by our Jamaican culture really, like going out and being within the dance parties and the club scene. I’ve observed on so many occasions how men and women react when they’re trying to impress the opposite sex or get the attention or being infatuated by somebody. So it’s really all that which motivated the song,” she explained.

It follows on the heels of What’s Good, also produced by Zodiac.

Brittny (full name Brittny Newman) explained how she got into the music business.

“It was really unexpected. I was in Atlanta and Zodiac, who is the producer of the song, and I are really good friends. We were just goofing around while I was there in the studio. I wasn’t thinking ‘let’s put out an album’ or anything. When I came back home, he called me and told me he got some people from Sony to listen to it…Just having somebody so high up that has so much interest in me was the biggest motivational factor for me,” she said.

Brittny hopes the new single will expand her listening audience.

“I wanted to do this song for Jamaica because not everyone is listening to R&B. I feel like it was a different step for me incorporating the dancehall into the R&B, and I think it really summed up more of what my culture is and who I am as a person, so I feel good about it,” she said.

While not signed to a major label, Cuffin Season will be distributed with a deal through Sony Music.
