Montego Bay-based deejay Mr Chumps plans to give a memorable performance at this year’s Reggae Sumfest at Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in St James.

The festival is slated for July 14 to 20. Mr Chumps is booked for the July 19 stage show.

“I am coming to surprise the world on the Reggae Sumfest stage as it gives me the opportunity to show everyone what Mr Chumps can do, so I am going all-out to make a big impression,” Mr Chumps told the Jamaica Observer.

The last few years have been fruitful for the deejay since his return to music in 2016. He recorded several songs which have widened his fan base. They include Changes, Happy Fi We, Big Life, My Time, and Bottles & Crates.

He spoke about the impact Bottle & Crates has been making. It has an accompanying video.

“The flossing vibe of Bottle & Crates is what has made it such a big hit in the dancehall and it ah tek the place by storm,” he said.

Mr Chumps, whose given name is Calvin Clarke, grew up in the tough community of Granville, St James.

He got his musical break in 2001 with Pure Bling Bling and hasn’t looked back.

Since then he has worked with several of the island’s top production houses, including Netspen Entertainment, Outta Nothing Records, Frenz for Real, Richie Royal Productions, and Bangology Records.
