It’s one-two-three for Michros again
THE Gary Subratie-conditioned American-bred three-year-old bay filly She’s An Introvert made a successful debut on local soil with an emphatic win of the Phillip Feanny Restricted Allowance event on Saturday.
Ridden by apprentice and leading rider Christopher Mamdeen, She’s An Introvert ( Temple City – Shy Girl) came strong in deep stretch on the outside to beat stable companions Soul Cure (Anthony Thomas) and Bold Smile (Kiaman McGregor) by 1 ¼ lengths in the 5-furlong straight event confined to native-bred three-year-old non-winners of two and imported three-year-old and upward maidens.
All three runners are owned by Michros while Soul Cure was bred by Michael Bernard.
This was the second occasion that the Bernard-led Michros was accomplishing the feat of one-two-three in a race.
The first occasion was on June 5, 2010, when Blackie Davis trained by Vin Edwards with Dane Nelson aboard won a six-furlong event over Top Bop and Falla Back A Mi, all three owned by Bernard.
For She’s An Introvert, it was also her first career win, having raced five times before with only one second-place finish. Her second-place finish came at Gulfstream Park on September 20, 2018 over one mile when she was beaten by Stormy D in a maiden special weight event.
“She ( She’s An Introvert) needs more distance and we knew that but we just gave her a race and she came through good today (Saturday), and we are pleased with the run by her, the first time of asking.
“She seems to be enjoying the racetrack and we are going to take it one race at a time with her and give her a little more distance next time at the races and see what she does. I thought she would have gotten there but it might be a little late, but she got there with a lot of room to spare,” said Subratie.
It was an even start at the off as Mom’s Treasure (Conrod Ellis), Soul Cure and Bold Smile dictated the early proceedings. Action Run (Ameth Robles) joined the leaders approaching the dummy rails with She’s An Introvert just beginning to roll.
Inside the final furlong (200m), Soul Cure began to pull away from Bold Smile but Mamdeen produced his mount and She’s An Introvert got up in time for an easy victory in the end.
The final time was a slow 1:02.0, which has since been questioned by several pundits.
