No Sleep for Gapix
Though he is eyeing a career in computer engineering, 17-year-old Tareque Robinson also has a passion for music. He currently records as deejay Gapix.
“My style of music is more of a fusion of multiple genres of music. I am coming into the game with a new sound and a new vibe because I plan to represent dancehall music on an international stage,” he said.
From Angels in Spanish Town, he shared how his interest in music developed.
“I was always interested in music, from I was in third form. I did many freestyles in class, but it was not until I started fifth form that I began to write songs. I just want to share my talent and express myself,” said the Wolmer’s Boy’s High School student.
No Sleep, his latest single, is on the rhythm of the same name. It is produced by Coppershot Music/Castanheiro Music.
Gapix addressed the challenge of recording and simultaneously beating the books.
“It’s always difficult to try and find the balance. I just try to get the work done and to be creative and have creative freedom,” he said.
He has also worked with producers Shakespeare and KaleX.
