El Profesor takes field to class in top-rated Restricted Overnight Allowance

After three runs of testing the pace of this class, the Patrick Lynch-conditioned El Profesor (Casual Trick –The Principal) should be cherry ripe to lead home rivals in the top-rated Restricted Overnight Allowance event that will highlight the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park today.

El Profesor, an unpredictable sort, continues to show up every now and then with performances that have brought him many victories and today might just be one of those happy days for him. El Profesor has the class and talent, and based on potential, just could be enough to take him to the winning circle when the race is over.

My Elle Belle, Uncle Vinnie, Wartime and Capturemyship should provide some competition for El Profesor in the 12-horse field.

The three-year-olds and upward event over 7 1/2 furlongs (1,500m) is positioned as the ninth event on the card with a post time of 5:25 pm. First race is at 12:20 pm.

El Profesor came to life at this level on last when finishing like a train against the inside rails in deep stretch only to be outdone by Honey Ryda over 5 1/2 furlongs (1,100m) on May 18. The race ended in a quick 1:06.3, with El Profesor coming home in 1:06.4. El Profesor drew the number one post and had difficulties from early in the race, but now going longer and a more favourable draw, El Profesor stocks have risen for this contest.

My Elle Belle, with nine runs at this level, has been very disappointing in those recent runs. My Elle Belle came into many of her races with winning chances, but has failed on numerous occasions. Her last race on May 11, she finished in second place behind Uncle Frank over seven furlongs (1,400m), but was later disqualified for causing interference.

However, given the nature of this race, My Elle Belle should turn around her form and run better, but she cannot be tardy at the start, especially from this number one draw.

Uncle Vinnie has stepped down from Open Allowance company to tackle these runners here with some form as well. After finishing in third place by 2 ½ lengths behind the talented I Am Di One and Dontae over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) on June 8 in Overnight Allowance company, Uncle Vinnie returned one week later in the class above and ran another good race, finishing in fourth place in the Thoroughbred Hall of Fame Stakes Trophy over 6 furlongs. He will enjoy this longer trip and should run another good race here with winning a strong option.

Wartime has been running some very good races of late without getting into the winners’ enclosure. Wartime finished a good third behind Honey Ryda and El Profesor on May 18 over 5 ½ furlongs as she was seen making strong headway in deep stretch. With this extended trip not a problem, Wartime could come into her own and be rewarded with a win.

Scratched out of his seasonal debut race on May 18, Capturemyship returned on June 1 in the Ahwhofah Sprint and ran a blinder to finish in third place behind Zephyr and Lottery Ticket over six furlongs (1,200m). The trip is not a bother and Capturemyship could set off in front and prove a difficult contender here.

Also on tap is the Valbert Marlowe Memorial Cup feature, a Restricted Allowance event for native-bred four-year-old and upward non-winners of three other than going over nine furlongs (1,800m).

The Philip Feanny-trained Messi should easily put away rivals here. Kalahari is expected to run second.
