Dancehall fashionista-cum-deejay Shizzle Sherlock believes the practice of “money pullup” by selectors can do more harm than good to an artiste’s career.

“It hard to find a hit song and when yu find it, you not getting the strength. The song ah get play in Jamaica but the selectors who say dem ah your friend not playing the songs with power, dem play it yes, but dem nah give yu the shout out unless you go money pull up, dem a ramp wid man career,” said Shizzle Sherlock.

He recently returned to Jamaica after a multi-city US tour. He is encourged by the response to Keep Flossing (Polo), released on the Slider label in July 2018.

“My Polo song ah deal with Europe a way, this song is going to make me tour Europe given the feedback on social media. Me sing mi song from last year summer, every selector know it, but some people from Trelawny ah try run in pon it but ah me first say polo from last summer, and the people ah work with it, we ah beat polo long time, we ah keep flossing,” he said.

Shizzle Sherlock, whose real name is Omar Barker, was born in Mount Salem in Montego Bay.

His love for fashion outpaced his talent for cricket while he was in high school, and as soon as he graduated, he started out with a trio known as the Sherlock Family. His zany fashion sense made headlines and soon, this led to bookings in countries such as England and Canada.

“We going to Europe again this year so look out for the coot,” he said.
