Fully Loaded makes comeback
After a break of seven years, the popular sound system showcase, Fully Loaded, returns on August 3. The event, produced by Solid Agency, will be part of SPF, an annual party series which takes place in St Ann during Emancipation weekend.
This year’s event is set for the expansive Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in Priory, St Ann, which also hosts Bacchanal J’Ouvert and Rebel Salute.
Managing director of Solid Agency, Marlon Burke, told the Jamaica Observer that the comeback show will feature top selectors and sound systems including Tony Matterhorn, Coppershot, Mighty Crown from Japan, DJ Jabba, Bishop Escobar, Chromatic and Infuzion.
“Over the past few years the company has really focused its energies on artiste management and bookings, but we have really never stopped getting enquiries regarding the promotion and production of events. Then there came the Buju Banton concert in March of this year and that just really ignited our energies once again to do events. In the past, we have partnered with the people at SPF and have really developed a good synergy, so we just saw it as being the right time to give in to the people who have always been calling for the return of Fully Loaded, and the time is just right,” Burke shared.
In the past, Fully Loaded has brought heavy hitters from the world of hip hop to blend with local dancehall culture. Headliners have included Wyclef Jean, DJ Khaled, Ludacris, Rick Ross, Jah Rule, Ashanti, Red Man and Fabolos. Burke said other acts for the line-up will be announced soon, and stressed that the event is poised to attract its old following while drawing new converts.
“Because people have been requesting that we bring back Fully Loaded, we are confident that the die-hard supporters of the event will return. In addition, we have added a number of younger acts such as a Bishop Escobar to draw in the younger people.”
Fully Loaded joins two other major events for the SPF weekend. I-Rise is a cultural reggae show at Kaya Herb House in Drax Hall, St Ann on August 1. This will feature Jesse Royal, No-Maddz, Feluke and Skorcha.
Traditional SPF events, Soiree and Forever Beach, will round out the weekend.
