New Highway 2000 toll rates to take effect July 6
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Motorists who use the East-West leg of Highway 2000 are to begin paying more next Saturday.
The toll operator said while it was able to forgo a rate review last year, it has become necessary to implement an increase effective July 6.
As such, motorists using the Portmore leg of Highway 2000, will have to fork out $240 up from $220 for Class One vehicles. Class Two vehicles will attract a cost of $380 up from $350, while $60 will be added to the rate for Class Three vehicles, bringing the total to $730.
On the Spanish Town leg, it will cost $170 up from $160 for Class One vehicles, while operators of Class Two vehicles will now have to pay $260 after an increase of $20.
The rate for Class Three vehicles will move from $440 to $470.
Meanwhile, the rate for drivers of Class One vehicles on the Vineyards leg will move from $440 dollars $480. The charge for Class Two vehicles will move from $640 to $700 and it will cost $1,320 up from $1, 210 dollars for Class Three vehicles.
On the May Pen leg, $10 will be added to the toll rate for Class One vehicles, which will now attract $120, while for Class Two vehicles will move from $180 to $200.
The new rate for Class Three vehicles will be $400 up from $360.
