PM commends JCF for assisting students amid bus strike
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness in a tweet this morning commended the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for assisting commuting students in getting to school after Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus drivers withdrew their service this morning.
He was commenting on a video, which was posted by the JCF on Twitter this morning, showing students disembarking a police bus.
“..Serving and protecting our children on a day when buses are on strike. Children being taken to school by our police,” the JCF tweeted.
The JUTC drivers have withdrawn their service over the shooting death of a colleague allegedly in retaliation for the stabbing death of a taxi operator by another JUTC bus driver.
Holness, who retweeted the JCF’s video, said: “Thank you (JCF) for your unwavering efforts this morning in assisting a number of students from in and around the corporate area in getting to school,” he tweeted, “You have done well to serve and protect our citizens.”
