Doha 2019: Elaine Thompson withdraws from 200m
DOHA, Qatar — Jamaican champion Elaine Thompson has withdrawn from the 200m at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Thompson, who was fourth in the 100m on Sunday night, finished second in heat three of the 200m in 22.61 seconds yesterday.
She has a personal best of 21.66s and a season’s best of 22.00s but was never in control of the race.
Thompson’s reason for withdrawing has not yet been confirmed but, she complained of a recurring Achilles problem and insufficient sleep after the 100m final.
