Ewers disqualified in men’s 200 metres — Blake, Dwyer Jamaican qualifiers
Jamaica’s Andre Ewars was disqualified in the men’s 200 metres at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, after finishing Heat Seven of the preliminary round in fourth.
Ewars
was disqualified for a lane violation, which means that Jamaica will be
represented in the semi-finals by 2011 champion Yohan Blake and Rasheed Dwyer.
Ewers was out the blocks quickly and came off the bend in the lead but was caught in the straight by the top three finishers of the race.
Jereem
Richards of Trinidad and Tobago won the event in 20.23 seconds, with favourite
Noah Lyles of the United States of America finishing second in 20.26 and
Brendon Rodney of Canada third in 20.38.
