Maxi Priest’s ‘It All Comes Back To Love’ enters Billboard
For the fourth time in his career, British reggae singer Maxi Priest has scored an entry on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. His latest effort, It All Comes Back To Love, is now at No. 2 on this week’s chart.
The 14-track
set, his first in five years, was produced by Shaggy. Shaggy is featured on
four tracks. Other collaborators include Noah Powa, R&B singers Estelle and
Anthony Hamilton, Inner Circle and dancehall veteran Bounty Killer.
Priest enjoyed a fruitful run on several Billboard charts in the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. Some of his songs that made their way on to the Billboard Hot 100 chart are Close To You (No. 1), Set The Night To Music (with Roberta Flack), Wild World, Housecall (with Shabba Ranks), Groovin In The Midnight and Just A Little Bit Longer.
“I worked
with Shaggy on the production for this album. The tracks were done at The Ranch
in New York, and we had an awesome time,” said Priest, who previously
collaborated with Shaggy on 1996’s Top 20 Billboard hit That Girl.
“Every time
we come together; we have such a bonafide vibe. It’s always a joy to work with
Shaggy.”
A glance at
this week’s Billboard Reggae albums chart shows Jah Cure and Koffee as the only
Jamaica-based reggae acts on the chart.
Cure’s former chart-topper Royal Solider is steady at No. 4, while Koffee’s EP Rapture rebounds from 13 to No. 10.
The rest of
the top 10 is dominated by American reggae bands including Stick Figure, The
Movement, Roots of a Rebellion and Rebelution.
