All we are asking is for time to get home safely
Dear Editor,
In the parish of St Catherine, residents who work outside of the capital often have an issue when it comes on to the hours between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm to get public transportation to return to their abodes. Moreover, the state of emergency (SOE) implemented in this area is not necessarily an issue; it is just a minor factor affecting the working force with the sanctioned early lockdown.
On the one hand, people gave their opinion on this matter and said that what the Government is doing makes a lot of sense. On the other hand, the time given for lockdown is way too early for perople travelling from remote places. It has also been stated that despite SOE we have not seen any signs of security personnel at either the entrance or exit of the designated zones.
In essence, all that people are asking is that the Government extends the time for them to get home safely to their families. I hope the Government will take this matter into consideration and allow for more time before the designated lockdown.
