Jamaican gymnast Danusia Francis qualifies for the Olympics
The Olympics is next year in Tokyo, Japan, and based on what we have seen at this
While we
expect a good show from our track and field participants, especially the women,
Jamaica is again set to step outside the usual forte, as Danusia Francis will
strut her stuff in the gymnastics arena.
The 25-year-old
earned one of 20 automatic spots to compete at the Olympics while competing at
the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart,
Germany, recently. She has become the second Jamaican to achieve such a feat
behind Toni Ann Williams, who did it at the last Olympics that was held in Rio
de Janeiro.

Although
Francis was born in England, she is Jamaican through her father. And the
support that she will get locally is expected to boil over when she goes to Tokyo
clad in the black, green and gold of the super island nation nestled in the
Caribbean.
Since her
qualification, Francis has taken to social media to express gratitude for all
the support she has received.
BUZZ congratulates Danusia Francis on her
achievement, and we hope that she will do well in Tokyo.
