DJ Jungle Jesus gets in the rhythm
Sound system selector DJ Jungle Jesus makes his production debut with the Money And Gyal rhythm, released last week.
Money And Gyal features songs such as Culture by Shane-O, Choppinz (Gage), Gyallis DNA (Rtadax), Make Money (Eklypse), Overseas (Dre Kalil), Organized Felony (Gold Gad) and Sneakers and Batty Rider by D’Angel.
“This rhythm, especially the concept and sound are inspired by the things that make me happy: money and girls. Nothing good in life comes easy, and working on this project proved that. I was almost hospitalised due to a lack of sleep, trying to compose and organise this project but it was all worth it,” said Jungle Jesus.
Born Akeem Grant, Jungle Jesus is a marketing student at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC). He is originally from Arnett Gardens in Kingston.
Four years ago, he got his initial break by releasing the Panty Snitch Dancehall Mix Vol 1 mixtape. In April, he launched Jungle Jesus Entertainment.
“My hope for Jungle Jesus Entertainment is to discover new and aspiring talents within the reggae and dancehall industry who are serious about their craft, help them to gain that mainstream exposure that can take them and their music across the world,” he shared.
Prior to the Money And Gyal beat, Jungle Jesus made his name promoting songs and mixtapes featuring top artistes like Beenie Man and Ding Dong.
“I have a good record of producing very good mixtapes which artistes like Beenie Man and Ding Dong see as a valuable medium to promote their projects. Whenever they release new tracks, their managers would provide me with fresh jingles or dub plates to promote on mixtapes and distribute CDs in the streets,” he explained.
