St Catherine High trounced Northern Technical High 13-0 to record the biggest win in the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Digicel Manning Cup yesterday.

With this their sixth win from nine games, St Catherine have consolidated second spot in Group C on 19 points, but is locked in a battle for the runner-up spot with Papine, who slipped to third on 18 points following their 0-4 loss to group winners St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), who finish with 28 points from 10 games. Both St Catherine and Papine have one game remaining.

Meanwhile, in Group F, St George’s College and Eltham High booked their spots in the second round, while Calabar High were eliminated.

St George’s College whipped Campion College 9-1 and consolidated group honours with 25 points from nine games, while Eltham High defeated Norman Manley High 2-0 and secured second spot with 19 points from their 10 games. Eltham is six points clear of Calabar, who moved to 13 points with a game in hand, after hammering Ardenne High 9-0 yesterday.

In Group E, Wolmers’ Boys’ whipped Greater Portmore 10-0 and provisionally jumped to the top of the group with 26 points, while Innswood High defeated Jose Marti 3-1 for their first win of the season. The inactive Jamaica College are second on 25 points with a game in hand.

Camperdown High maintained their perfect record with a 2-0 win over Edith Dalton James, as they easily won Group D with maximum 36 points from 12 games.

Mona High sit second with 24 points from 12 games, after finishing with a 3-2 win over lowly Meadowbrook, but are in danger of being overtaken by third-placed Hydel High who currently have 19 points and two games in hand, which could possibly take them 25 points.

Over in Group B, former champions Charlie Smith moved clear in second position on 19 points and a game in hand, following their 4-0 win over Ascot High, who ended their campaign on 10 points in fourth position. Donald Quarrie High, who also have a game in hand, are third on 16 points and should still be harbouring thoughts of surpassing Charlie Smith. Jonathan Grant High won the group with 23 points.

Finally, Holy Trinity remain atop Group A on 19 points after playing out a 2-2 stalemate with second-placed Cumberland on 18 points, with a game in hand. St Jago High remained third on 17 points, despite Bridgeport High’s 2-0.
