Robertha releases ode to Spanish Town

After creating a stir with her single The System, Reggae artiste Robertha is back with a track which she has dubbed as a hustler’s story.

The single, Spanish Town, seeks to shed light on her life while growing up in the inner city of Spanish Town.

“I was born in Kingston but grew up in Spanish Town and this song is a token to the country’s old capital. I have learned a lot while living in Spanish Town and those life lessons have made me into the woman I am today. Many people hear Spanish Town and think crime and violence and it’s my hope that my music can help divert that mindset,” said Robertha.

Produced by The Heart Language, the track made its way to Vevo and other major digital stores on October 4.

“I sell natural juices in and around Spanish Town for a living and with this song and video, I wanted to share my story, as well as the stories of other hustlers in Spanish Town who support me. It is an amazing feeling to hear people in Spanish Town playing my song and sharing it all over social media,” she said.

With Spanish Town garnering streams, Robertha also released Prayer in light of the recent spike in crime in Kingston 20. Her prayer went viral on social media which led to her broadening her fan base. Robertha made her major debut on the reggae scene with her single I Shall Not be Moved.

Robertha is slated to perform at the Oracabessa car park in St Mary on October 24, as a part of her promotional run, which will end with performances at several colleges for the new year.
