2019 NFL Week 7: JustBet favourites New England Patriots now 6-0

Heading into Week 7 of the NFL regular season, the New England Patriots (6-0) are living up to the billing as JustBet favourites to win and retain the title while the San Francisco 49ers (5-0) have shocked the league with their superb start and appear to have doubled down after their domination of the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday (October 13, 2019).

But, while the Patriots and 49ers seemingly look unbeatable, there are several teams just behind them that are performing above and beyond expectations.

The Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks, in particular, all have 5-1 records entering this weekend and all have overachieved thus far. However, they will put it all on the line against dangerous opponents on Sunday.

The Packers did not have an attractive outing against the Detroit Lions on Monday night, but they found a way to carve out a 23-22 win. The truth is that quarterback (QB) Aaron Rodgers has not got the offense clicking as yet, meaning the Packers must come up with answers when they invite the Oakland Raiders (3-2) to Lambeau Field on Sunday.

These teams have no great history against each other, but the Raiders have started the season with a renewed offensive swagger and the defence of the Packers has been holding things down while their offense finds its footing. The Packers enter the weekend as JustBet 7-point favourites (mainly due to home-field advantage) but the Raiders’ high-ranked rushing offence should provide a stern test – expect a Green Bay victory at the end of a hard-fought battle.

The Saints have looked very dominant defensively and, with backup QB Teddy Bridgewater at 4-0 as a starter, the offense has looked impressive (especially considering the opponents).

On Sunday, they visit Soldier Field to tackle the Chicago Bears (3-2) whose defence is nothing to smirk at despite their lackluster showing in London two weeks ago. The Bears return from their bye week to face an indomitable opponent – thankful to be playing at home but have not beaten the Saints in their last four attempts.

The Bears enter the weekend as four-point JustBet favourites but QB Mitchell Trubsky is expected to miss the game so they will need to contain an offence that is averaging 23.8 points in their wins.

The Bears have outscored their five opponents 87-69 while the Saints have registered 128-122 but the Bears have allowed 13.8 points per game while the Saint have let in 20.3.

The Saints have not faced a defence like this all year and Bridgewater will be thoroughly tested. A low-scoring game is expected but the Saints offence should engineer enough points to get them over the hump.

The Seahawks, in particular, QB Russell Wilson, are playing at an increasingly high level. Wilson has the highest QB rating in the league and is possibly now the frontrunner in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) chatter but still has to prove his worth against the Baltimore Ravens (4-2) come Sunday.

The history between these teams is very limited with only five previous meetings – Baltimore won the first two and Seattle the last three – but there is no shortage of intensity.

Despite them entering the encounter as the league leader in rushing and overall offence, the Ravens are JustBet four-point underdogs. On the other hand, the Seahawks have lost only one game, but they haven’t yet beaten any team with a winning record. This encounter takes place at CenturyLink Field where it is always difficult for visiting teams and Wilson is having an excellent season while the Ravens’ secondary is not.

The Ravens’ offence, spearheaded by QB Lamar Jackson and running back Mark Ingram Jr are sure to keep it close and make it interesting but, unless the defence can make game-changing plays, the Seahawks are going to come away victorious.
