Magnum celebrates Big 20: Ding Dong and Spice crowned king and queen

Magnum Tonic Wine is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and the brand is doing things outside of the norm to commemorate the milestone.

The Magnum

Big 20 Celebrations kicked off on Wednesday evening with a media launch at the

Mas Camp in Kingston.

“We are

targeting our promoters of events. We need our promoters of events because they

are the ones hosting these events across the island, and they are selling

Magnum and endorsing the brand,” said Telecia Lindo Johnson, Marketing Manager

at J Wray and Nephew Limited.

Event

promoters across the island can log on to the www.magnumhub.tv and upload a

video of themselves stating why Magnum should sponsor their event for the

Christmas. The videos with the most votes will win.

Twenty

winners will each receive $500,000 from Magnum Tonic Wine towards their event.

There will be one winner from each parish and an additional six from the

overall entrants. Persons wanting to enter have until October 31 to upload their

videos while voting closes on November 11.

But it doesn’t

stop there. Three big town square parties across the island will feature

Magnum’s newly signed brand ambassador Spice and Ding Dong. At these parties,

20 consumers will have the chance to win $400,000.

The launch

featured performances from both Spice and Ding Dong, who were crowned Queen of

Stage and King of Dance, respectively. Dance Xpressions also entertained as

they took specially invited guests on a journey through some popular dance

moves over the years. Several guests also won $20,000 in cash courtesy of

Magnum.

Lindo Johnson

explained that Spice aligns perfectly with Magnum, so it was no brainer to choose

her to be a brand ambassador.

“When you

think Spice, you think dancehall, right? And dancehall is Jamaica’s culture.

Spice has really embodied her brand not just in Jamaica but also across the

world. She’s hot and happening right now,” the Magnum representative said.

“The Magnum

brand is synonymous with dancehall and so is Spice. She is the Queen of Stage.

We already had our King of Dance who is Ding Dong, so we had to find a partner

to take the Magnum brand across the world. Spice is awesome, amazing, and

she loves the brand.”

Spice shared similar

sentiments.

“It signifies

who I am, and I believe that I am Magnum and Magnum is me. I am dancehall, and

Magnum is dancehall. It signifies me and my brand, and both of us are

celebrating 20 years,” said Spice.

“It’s special

to me to be representing a brand like Magnum which is authentic. There’s

nothing forced.”
