Waterhouse, Cavalier to continue setting pace in Women’s Premier League
DEFENDING champions Waterhouse Football Club and Cavalier Football Club should increase their leads in Zones A and B, respectively, as the 2019 JFF/Lascelles Employees and Partners Co-operative Credit Union Women’s Premier League competition continues today at several venues, starting at 3:30 pm.
Real Mona FC, who were scheduled to host Waterhouse at their Buttercup Park, Mona, home playing field, will instead play away at Drewsland Mini Stadium.
Waterhouse, with 16 points from six starts, should hold the advantage on their home ground and easily come out winners over an opponent they defeated 4-0 in the first round.
The Xavier Gilbert-coached aggregation should also welcome the return of their leading goalscorer Shantel Bailey and Captain Tarania Clarke, who were on duty with the Reggae Girlz team.
Bailey is expected to lead the attack for Waterhouse, along with Latoya Duhaney, Davia Richards, and Lacey Ann Murray.
Real Mona, with 11 points from seven starts, should rely on Shadae Ashley and Tyesha Nelson to get their goals, but the duo’s task is expected to be tough against their strong and unbeaten opponents.
Cavalier FC will host Rangers FC at the Alpha Boys’ School and should have things their own way as in the first meeting they crushed Rangers 9-0. Cavalier lead Zone B with maximum 21 points from seven wins from as many starts. Rangers are at the bottom of the standing without a point, also from seven games.
The Everdean Scarlett-coached Cavalier will have leading goalscorer Rena Gordon at the helm along with Peterkaye Green, and Khedine Salmon.
In another Zone A game today, second-placed Olympic Gardens should beat Royal Lakes FC at Cling Cling Oval. Olympic Gardens won the first meeting 4-0.
Arnett Gardens FC and UWI Women’s FC will square off at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Both teams drew their first meeting 1-1, and another keen tussle is expected.
