Unveiling of VCB statue today
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The unveiling of a statue of Olympian Veronica Campbell Brown is scheduled to take place today at 4:00 pm at the National Stadium Statue Park in Kingston.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness will unveil the VCB statue, with the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, expected to be present at the event.
The Campbell Brown statue is the third of four statues in tribute to outstanding Jamaican athletes that are being designed by the Sport Ministry as part of its Jamaica 55 Legacy programme.
The first two, which were of Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, were unveiled in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The final statue in the series is of Asafa Powell, and is still being finalised.
