Cheers! Jamaica Food and Drink Festival hosts Cocktail Clash
As high anticipation kicks in for the 5th anniversary of the Jamaica Food and Drink Festival (JFDF), the cultural hub explores several pre-events leading up to its series of mouthwatering episodes, on October 15, the JFDF hosted its 3rd staging of its Cocktail Clash.
In partnership with the Kingston Industrial Garage (KIG), its showroom was used to create a convivial environment to facilitate numerous patrons who poured out despite inclement weather and traffic congestion.
The pre-events serve as a strategy to get the public engaged and energized for its week of festivities on October 26 through to November 3.
Chief Operating Officer at the CB Group Matthew Lyn, shared that the concept of JFDF was birthed from the need to place Jamaica and its creatives on the frontier of the global stage.
“The Jamaica Food and Drink Festival is borne straight out of a lot of people travelling and going away, seeing what other people are doing in the food industry, seeing different ways we can look at our country and our product,” he told BUZZ.
“When you go away and see other people cooking their foods and sharing their cultures, there’s nothing saying that a Jamaican can’t do the same thing. So, the idea was really to bring that back to Jamaica. Jamaican food in itself is a very unique kind of cuisine.
Our tastes are very bold and our flavours, it is as equally good as any cuisine in the world,” he added.
He also shared that for their imminent launch for the JFDF,
he has no doubts that this year will be bigger and better.
“When we launch later in the month, we expect that it will be well received and well-executed and more than anything we expect that people are going to have a good time,” he said.

The JFDF Director, Alicia Bogues shared that the event has grown impressively over the years and its mandates are not farfetched.
“The event has really grown over the year….The Jamaica Food and Drink Festival started 5 years ago as a dream and never did we imagine that we will be celebrating year 5 with so much success and so quickly,” she told BUZZ in an interview.
She advanced her point saying that Jamaica is an
internationally recognized cultural hub and that Jamaicans are unique in
everything they do.
“Jamaica is hot right now, everybody loves us; we make our mark everywhere we go and in anything we do,” she said.
