Former JLP candidate Peter Fakhourie is dead
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Businessman and Former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Candidate Peter Fakhourie has died.
Fakhourie, who is also the brother of Minister of Labour and Social Security Shahine Robinson, passed away yesterday.
He had been battling illness for a long time.
Fakhourie represented the JLP in St Ann South Eastern in 2007, but lost to the People’s National Party’s Lisa Hanna, who polled 7,158 votes to his 4,461.
The businessman also served on several Boards such as the Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited and the Bauxite and Alumina Trading Company of Jamaica.
Prime Minister and Leader the JLP Andrew Holness said the party honours the contribution of Fakhourie and supports his family in this time of sorrow.
“Peter was dedicated to his family, community and country. We must recognise those who have sacrificed their own interests for the benefit of their countrymen and women. We express our sincere condolences to Shahine, his family and friends,” Holness said in a statement from the party.
