FORMER mayor of Mandeville, Brenda Ramsay, and her former deputy, Ervin Facey, the sitting councillor of the Spur Tree Division of the Manchester Municipal Corporation, are to return to the witness stand in the municipal corporation’s $400-million fraud trial at the parish court in Mandeville.

Presiding Judge Ann Marie Grainger yesterday instructed the prosecution to inform the retired mayor and the councillor that they will be required to appear in court on November 8.

The two had testified when the trial of eight people charged in relation to an alleged conspiracy to defraud the corporation of amounts in excess of $400 million, began in June.

The former mayor and deputy mayor are being recalled at the request of the defence.

Those before the court are formerly of the corporation: Sanjay Elliott, deputy superintendent of road and works; David Harris, finance director; and Kendale Roberts, works overseer. The other defendants are Elliott’s wife, Tasha Gay, and his parents, Edwardo and Myrtle Elliott; Elliott’s employee Dwayne Sibblies; and commercial bank employee Radcliffe McLean.

The trial is set to resume on November 4.
