G2K President Stephen Edwards not seeking re-election
Stephen Edwards, president of Generation 2000 (G2K), the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) affiliate, has indicated that he will not seek re-election in November.
Edwards did not give a reason for his decision but said in a press statement that: “G2K has afforded me invaluable experiences that have transformed me into a better leader and professional,” adding that “I will continue to encourage the youth of the nation to join the Generation 2000 movement”.
Nominations for the positions of president and vice-presidents in the G2K elections will open tomorrow, he noted.
Edwards officially joined the young professional affiliate of the JLP eight years ago and has served in many roles, including policy committee chairman, deputy general secretary, vice-president and president for the past three years.
