Celebrating the ‘Queens of Reggae’

Queens of Reggae island Honourary Ceremonies (QORIHC) is an extremely formal and prestigious affair that is multi-generational and celebrates the efforts of the many unsung hard-working, productive, inspiring and nurturing women in the Jamaican entertainment industry.

These women are crowned as “Queens” at a gold carpet affair, as they receive recognition in front of their country, Jamaica, as well as friends and family. The inaugural show was in 2016, and since then, there has been a yearly line up in the month of October, as QORIHC’s lead organizer, Ms Laurell Nurse, uses the show as a way to celebrate these unsung heroines who are critical to the preservation of Jamaica’s intangible cultural heritage.
