Sagicor’s Millennium Mall set to open December 2019
Sagicor Group Jamaica (SGJ) has announced that it will be seeking to officially open its Clarendon development, Millennium Mall, by year end, December 2019.
In a release on Tuesday, the company said that the 21-acre commercial property development in Mineral Heights, which broke ground in April 2017, is now in the final stages of preparation and confirmed tenants are now outfitting their units to get ready for business.
President and CEO, Sagicor Group, Christopher Zacca, said that he is looking forward to the increased commercial activity that the mall will bring to the area. He believes that the development will help to create employment opportunities for the people of Clarendon based on the number of business places that will be operating in the mall.
“Over 70 per cent of the units have been assigned to prospective tenants and we are confident of take-up for the remaining units by the first quarter of 2020,” he said.
The confirmed tenants for the mall include Sagicor Bank Jamaica, major fast food chains Popeyes and Little Caesars, Knutsford Express and Devon House ice cream outlet, among others.
Zacca noted that discussions are also being had with a supermarket chain, a pharmacy, a clothing and electronics stores, medical professionals, other fast food restaurants, hair and beauty salons and a mobile accessories store.
The release further mentioned that just last year, Sagicor and GB Texaco also signed a deal for the establishment of a gas station at the mall. The gas station is expected to be opened by the last quarter of the year.
The company noted that $2.3 billion was invested in the development, which will be managed by its property services arm.
