GCG Ground, a division of Goddard Enterprises Ltd (GEL), has increased operations in the Caribbean and Latin America with the addition of GCG Ground Services Barbados Ltd.

In a release on Wednesday, the company said GCG Ground Barbados will join the growing Caribbean and Latin American team of ground handlers including the Jamaican entity operating as GCG Ground Services Jamaica.

“The purchase of the new company brings the number of ground handling stations in the group to seven and follows two other recent acquisitions in Costa Rica and St Lucia. The new organisation will provide a full suite of ground handling and cargo services, to both narrow and wide body aircraft at Grantley Adams International Airport. These would include services to some of the leading airlines that land in Barbados namely British Airways, DHL, TUI Group, West Jet, Condor, Caribbean Airlines, Lufthansa, and Eurowings,” the release said.

President of GCG Group, Paulo Teixeira, said that the company is happy for its extended expansion in Barbados.

“I look forward to working with the team, as they join our expanding group in the Caribbean, Central and Latin America. We look forward to taking care of our customers and to working closely with all stakeholders in Barbados and contributing to the growth and development of tourism there,” he said.

Bruno Barrientos, handling division manager at GCG Ground, added that he too was excited by the new operations to take place at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

“This is a great step toward the regional growth strategy for GCG Ground and introduces GCG to an extremely elite group of airlines that serve Barbados. The local team is highly trained, most of them having worked in the industry for several years,” he stated.

GCG Ground Services Barbados Ltd now joins the six other airports in Latin America and the Caribbean where GCG Ground provides ground handling services in Kingston and Montego Bay, Jamaica, Liberia and San Jose in Costa Rica, along with St Thomas and Vieux Fort in St Lucia.
