FAME 95 DJ and UTech student die in motorcycle crash
The local
entertainment fraternity is in a state of grief as it awoke to news that FAME
95 FM DJ Venom and a female student of the University of Technology (UTech)
died in a motorcycle collision on Monday night, November 25.
The student has been
identified as 21-year-old Abigail Rowe.
According to initial reports from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), DJ Venom, whose given name is Raymond Peart, met in a collision involving his motorcycle along the Spanish Town Bypass in St Catherine at 10 p.m.
Peart was driving his
Honda CBR 600 motorcycle along the Spanish Town Bypass heading towards Old
Harbour; when on reaching the vicinity of March Pen Road, he collided with Rowe
who was a pedestrian.
Rowe was attempting to
cross the bypass and was hit by the motorcycle, which then flung Peart upon
impact. Both sustained multiple injuries and were transported to the Spanish
Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Peart, 43, was one of
FAME’s most popular disk jockeys. He was also a past student of Kingston
College (KC) and UTech.
DJ Venom was born in Yallahs, St Thomas. He later moved to Old Harbour and joined the RJR-Gleaner Group-owned radio station back in 2014.
