Two St Thomas residents win Campari Pop Style competition

St Thomas is often referred to as the ‘forgotten’ parish, but it had an unforgettable night on Saturday. Two of its residents walked away with the title of Campari Pop Style’s most stylish male and female.

Dianne Edwards from Yallahs, St Thomas, was moved to tears when host Miss Kitty announced that she was the most stylish female. Her futuristic design made her one of two wildcards chosen from the many fashionistas who showed up in an array of colours, materials and styles.

“Only God,” she said to an enthusiastic crowd.

Edwards is a final-year fashion design student at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. She said that the $250,000 she won will go a long way in helping her complete her studies.

“There is so much that I have to accomplish, and this is a great help. Only God he knows what I was going to do for my final year. So this will be very beneficial in helping me to get fabrics,” she said.

Gavin ‘Gucci Boss’ Ferrari from White Horses, St Thomas, was crowned the Campari’s most stylish male. His win came as no surprise to the electrified crowd that filled out the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew.

Gucci Boss entered the venue with an entourage that rivalled the size of dancehall artiste Popcaan. And they came with one purpose – to make noise and ensure that the winner of the Morant Bay leg of the competition also won the national title.

“Without the support of the people, this wouldn’t be possible,” Gucci Boss told BUZZ.

“Without the people dem, I wouldn’t get the support to win,” the stylish and confident Gucci Boss told BUZZ.

He explained that he has always been a fashionista, but the competition has taken him to a new level.

“This Campari Pop Style opportunity, it mean everything to mi because growing up as a young yute, mi always like to look good. So mi always a work hard because mi like fi wear nice things cause wi ever a pop style daily,” he said.

Having won the grand prize of $250,000, Gucci Boss said that he plans to start a business in his parish.

“I’m so grateful for it right now. Mi a try start a business. Mi a go just leave it inna di bank until I figure out the right business fi do. But mi a go give back to St Thomas,” he said.
