MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cornwall College won their third-straight game 62-46 over Rhodes Hall High in Montego Bay on Tuesday, to move up to third place in the Under-19 section of the ISSA Western Conference boys basketball competition, while York Castle High snapped a losing skid with a big win over Frome Tech in the Under-16 section.

Omar Campbell had a quadruple-double to lead Cornwall College to their 16-point win despite a game-high 22 points from Rhodes Hall’s Omardo Brown.

Defending champions Herbert Morrison, who lead the points table with eight from four-straight wins, tied with William Knibb Memorial, who have played five games and lost the last two; Cornwall College and Rhodes Hall are tied on seven points, one more than York Castle and Holland High with Muschett High and winless Irwin High both on four points each.

St James High lead the Under-16 section with 11 points from six games, followed by Holland High and York Castle, both on eight points; Cornwall College are in fourth place on seven points followed by Herbert Morrison, Muschett High and William Knibb all on six points; Irwin are next on five points and Frome Tech on four points.

Today, unbeaten Under-16 teams Holland High and Herbert Morrison will meet in Montego Bay while the Under-19 teams will also meet; and Muschett High and Irwin will meet in a double-header in Wakefield.

On Tuesday, Cornwall College led 18-8, but the visitors rallied in the second quarter to cut the deficit to five points (29-24), but the hosts outscored the Hanover school 33-22 over the final two periods.

Campbell scored 17 points and had 27 rebounds, 11 steals and 10 blocked shots, Romario Senior had a triple-double with 13 points, 23 rebounds and 10 steals and Kenric Brown scored 15 points and had 12 steals as Rushane Francis also had 15 steals.

Omardo Brown scored 22 points to lead Rhodes Hall with Javani Davis also scoring 19 points with Calwayne Hylton getting 10 steals.

York Castle’s defence held Frome Technical scoreless in their last three quarters in their 96-4 triumph at Frome.

Maurice Vassell scored 46 points and had 16 rebounds, while Mica-Che Arnold and Ricky Richards both scored 12 points each.
