It has been a taxing journey for deejay Skillibeng, but his efforts have borne fruit with the success of his song, Brik Pan Brik, produced by East Syde Records.

“It has been seven years now that I have been doing music professionally, and thanks to East Syde Records and Claims Records, I have moved from the underground to the mainstream,” Skillibeng told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.

The lanky artiste, who is in his early 20s, was drawn to entertainment during his teens. He was a member of a dance group while a student at Morant Bay High School in St Thomas.

After one year in sixth form at Seaforth High School, also in St Thomas, he quit school for a music career.

“I decided that music was my calling. I linked with East Syde Records and that’s where it all began,” Skillibeng, whose real name is Emwah Warmington, recalled.

Skillibeng made his recording debut in 2016 with Brain Parts on the Purge rhythm. Life ah Life, his first song to be released, came out on East Syde Records.

Other recently released songs include Skilli She Love and Pain and Emotion.

“I want to help shape the new era of dancehall music. Just being different and creative at the same time, will set any artiste apart from the crowd. I just want to continue creating good music and go after the ears of the people,” said Skillibeng.
