Texaco gives back to lucky customers and 10 schools
After 100 years of operation in Jamaica, the Texaco brand – under the GB
Energy banner – went the extra mile after its recently concluded Texaco
Centenary Cash Bonanza Promotion and has pledged $1 million to 10 schools
across the island.
The announcement came at from George Simpson, Retail Manager of GB
Energy/Texaco Jamaica, on November 28 at the Hyundai Showroom, New Kingston,
where the company handed out the contest’s grand prize to Portmore resident
David Dalling.
Simpson said the donation was part of the community development aspect
of the promotion. The money will be used in partnership with the Ministry of
Education to advance their National Mathematics Programme. The 10 institutions
will receive $100,000 each towards the creation of a Mathematics Lab.
“The response from our customers during the entire 100 days was just
incredible. The promotion reached a wide cross-section of the public, and we
are happy that we were able to give back to over 500 customers during such a
milestone anniversary for the company,” said Simpson.
Running from August 1 to November 8, 100 days in celebration of the
company’s centenary, the promotion handed out $20,000 to 500 lucky customers,
but the luckiest of them all was Dalling who took home a 2019 Hyundai Tuscon
SUV after almost not entering the contest.
“I could not believe it when I was informed I was the winner. I honestly
thought that I was dreaming,” Dalling said.
Grateful for the vehicle, he explained that it couldn’t have come at a more opportune time as he’d lost his car last year to theft which had impacted his ability to do his job.
