Call of Duty, Guitar Hero and FarmVille among finallists for Video Game Hall of Fame
The finallists for the next inductees into the World Video Game Hall of Fame were revealed today (March 18).
The 12 games include some
classics, and some otherwise questionable choices, but all hugely popular.
The fortunate few include
Call of Duty, Guitar Hero and…FarmVille?
To be selected, games must
have longevity, geographical reach and have had an impact on the industry and
pop culture.
Three games will add their
names to past inductees – including Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto and Pac-Man –
when the virtual ceremony is held on May 6.
The winners will be
selected by an international committee of journalists and scholars with fans
weighing in by a “Player’s Choice” ballot that ends March 25.
Other nominees for this
year’s induction are Animal Crossing, FIFA International Soccer, Mattel Football, Microsoft Flight Simulator,
Pole Position, Portal, StarCraft, Tron and Where in the World is Carmen San
Diego.
