Sprinters versus the run-on horses in Open Allowance
Seven starters are set to contest the Open Allowance named after farrier Craig “Lawd” Thompson.
This highlighter event of 11 races on the Tuesday card of March 30 is for three year olds and upwards over five furlongs straight.
Below is the analysis of each runner and their chances of winning.
1. PRINCE CHARLES: (5 ch g by Mine Over Matter – She’s Spectacular) – Races for the first time for trainer Steven Todd, having being claimed on March 6. Princes Charles has never been known for his prowess coming down the straight and now racing from the one draw he is going to have a hard time getting by rivals.
2. CRIMSON: (5 b g by Nuclear Wayne – Sarah Barracuda) – Finished third by 3 ½ lengths behind Tonna Ciliata and stablemate Sentient in the Chairman’s Trophy over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) on March 20. Now coming down the straight course, Crimson chances of winning are reduced as he usually makes a better impact over the longer distances.
3. SENTIENT: (5 ch h by Strikewhileitshot – Lady Geetadeo) – Just failed to catch Toona Ciliata in the Chairman’s Trophy over 7 ½ furlongs 10 days ago. Sentient represents the class and is versatile enough to make use of the straight.
4. TREVOR’S CHOICE: (5 dkb h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Queen Adira) – Finished third behind Duke and Patriarch on March 6 at 5 ½ furlongs. Even more comfortable here, the known for speed Trevor’s Choice has a glorious chance of returning to the winners’ enclosure.
5. CAPTUREMYSHIP: (7 b h by Adore The Gold – Mayken Joy) – Ran rivals into the ground to win the Sydney Watson Memorial over this distance on last. 7. SOLID APPROACH: (USA): (3 ch f by Cajun Breeze – Puz’ler) – Did extremely well to reach this level. This American-bred filly is poised for further improvement and that process should continue on Tuesday.
