T Brady passes second test
Following the win by T Brady in a native-bred three-year-old Maiden Special Weight event on Saturday (March 20), connections are hopeful that the bay colt can progress and go on to be a Classic contender.
Ridden by the 2019 champion jockey Christopher Mamdeen for the owner, trainer, breeder Carl Anderson, the promising colt ( Silent Valor – Burning Clearance) won the seven-furlong initiating contest by 1 ¾ lengths to shed his maiden tag in a time of 1:29.3 with accompanying splits of 23.4, 46.1, 1:14.2.
T Brady was always in the pace at the off as he sat behind Donotplaywithmagic (Dane Dawkins) for most of the way before taking over at the top of the lane. From there on, T Brady never gave up his gallop to the wire.
Finishing second was another Classic hopeful, Sir John, ridden by the joint jockey champion Anthony Thomas and trained by Wayne DaCosta.
Assistant trainer Alphonso Harris standing in for the trainer Anderson speaking with the Supreme Racing Guide said:
“We are very heartened by the win. We were disappointed as we had expected him to win the first time he T Brady competed, but he ran a bit green. So, we went back home, made the adjustments with our remedial work to return better prepared for this race and he delivered. For one thing, he is bred to stay and the way he acquitted himself with today’s shows he has the potential to be a Classic contender, and what we have to do now is to work with him towards beginning to realise that expectation.”
