Vacay Braids

Braids are the perfect style for a packed itinerary!

Just ask Jamaican-born, New York-based fashion blogger Opal Stewart, who recently jetted to Puerto Rico with her fiancé for a fun getaway. As the sun beckoned, Stewart couldn’t resist trying her hand at a blonde braided style she had previously seen on a popular television personality. “I’ve had this photo of @evamarcille on my Pinterest Inspo board forever and I decided to go with these long blonde micro-braids. I spent the weekend putting them in with the help of my sister and I think they came out pretty dope!” Stewart shared on Instagram.

Dope, indeed. So much so that it inspired Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) to take a closer look at the blonde braids trend. Whether your colour transition is the honey blonde, bleached-blonde or darker variation that leans more towards brunette, these light-tones braids are a great way to lift your look and spirit this holiday weekend!

Still not convinced blondes have more fun. See a breakdown of how to achieve the style from Opal Stewart, and some of our fave celebs owning the bold ‘do.

Products are a must so we share a few that will come in handy.

TSD: How many packs of braids did you use?

Opal Stewart (OS): I used four packs of X-pression braiding hair in colors 27 & 30 (2 packs each). The braiding hair is 82-inches long and I used the full length without cutting.

TSD: How long did it take?

OS: About 10 hours with a few breaks in-between.

TSD: Share some of your best hair-care tips while wearing a braided style.

OS: I always make sure that I take care of my scalp/roots while my hair is in braids. Some products I use are:

– Kuza Indian hemp hair and scalp treatment

– Camille Rose Honey Hydrate leave-in treatment

– Aveda nitriplenish leave in conditioner spray or It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in product

Pro tip: Plait braids in pigtails each night and cover with a silk scarf to keep neat and fresh.

Try your hand at vacation braids for an easy on-the-go style you willlove!
