Court proceedings forced outside for more than 50 busted at Labour Day party
MAY PEN, Clarendon – A Senior Parish Judge was forced to adjudicate matters outside the Clarendon Parish Court in May Pen, Clarendon on Thursday due to scores of persons appearing before the court for COVID-19 breaches.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that over 50 people were brought before the court after they were charged with reportedly breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).
The individuals allegedly attended an illegal party on Labour Day this year.
Due to the large number of persons before the court, Senior Parish Judge Dale Staple heard the matters on the steps of the courthouse.
The accused persons were gathered in the Clarendon Municipal Corporation car park near the courthouse, as they await for their case to be heard.
However, under the DRMA, no more than 10 persons are to be gathered in public spaces.
In a video obtained by OBSERVER ONLINE, well over 10 persons are seen gathered in the car park.
