‘Indian’ accused of shooting at police, shop breaking in Lawrence Tavern
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 27-year-old man has been accused of shooting at police and shop breaking, among other charges, following an incident in Lawrence Tavern Square, St Andrew last month.
Anthony Williams, otherwise called ‘Spanner’ or ‘Indian’, a farmer of Charlton Drive, Ewarton, St Catherine, has been charged with shooting with intent, shop breaking, larceny and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Police report that on March 17, about 4:30 am, lawmen on patrol were alerted to a shop breaking in progress at Lawrence Tavern Square. Upon their arrival, they were reportedly met by men who opened gunfire at them.
The hoodlums managed to escape , however, Williams was held on April 3 when he turned up at hospital to seek treatment, the police said.
A court date is being finalised for the suspect.
